About Sweet Sippin Acres Ranch and Herd

Why Miniature Herefords Make Sense In Your Herd

We bought our first miniature Hereford steer in the 90's and trained him to drive a cart. Our efforts were so successful that we were featured on a televisIon show in
the San Francisco Bay Area called Evening Magazine. The taping they did
was so cute!

After that, we decided that we wanted additional livestock. I found a breeder in Reno, who sold me my first miniature Hereford heifer, Molson. She has produced four beautiful calves for us and is being bred for her fifth calf to come in 2009.

We lived in the city limits when we first owned miniature Herefords. At that time, we rented boarding pasture for them. Since then, we've moved to the country where the herd lives comfortably on our property. My ten year old miniature steer is now retired and Molson is 8. Our herd has grown to two cows and two heifers.

These cattle are my children. When they leave Sweet Sippin Acres, they are halter broken and easily handled. It's not a huge herd but ours are quality cattle. We breed using the best miniature hereford polled bulls resulting in good quality polled calves. Plus, they are real easy keepers. Our steers will reach 700 pounds on grass alone. Then we add some grain which produces a great beef product.

A lot of people have never seen or heard of miniature Herefords. I love to show them off at fairs and miniature Hereford shows, as well as at our ranch. Our website gives you a great, close up look at our miniature cattle. As you can see, they're right at home. Enjoy our site and feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
